The Centre de recherche et d'innovation en sécurité civile du Québec (Centre RISC) is an applied research and transfer center recognized by the Quebec government as a college technology transfer center (CCTT) and by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) as a Technology Access Center (TAC). Its mission is to support innovation and improvement of practices in the sectors of civil security and emergency response. By providing research and development coaching, training, and knowledge transfer activities and support services, the RISC Center positions itself as a leader in the deployment of a culture of innovation in emergency safety.
The RISC Center has a team drawn from the practical and scientific communities, offering unique expertise in its three fields of intervention and in the four dimensions of civil security (prevention; preparation, intervention and recovery).
The Center is attached to the Notre-Dame-de-Foy Campus (CNDF), the only college institution in Quebec to offer a full range of programs in the field of civil security. It has unique infrastructures: a multidisciplinary experimentation site, a pedagogical center for emergency measures coordination and a mobile command post serving as a research unit.
